Women's Spring Climbing Retreat
Friday, June 13th - Saturday, June 14th
Staunton State Park in Conifer, Colorado
This retreat is ideal for women who have any interest in climbing, and want to spend a day learning something at any level–even if you have never climbed!
There will be multiple routes set up for various skill levels, so there will be something for everyone. In the past, we have had women with 0 climbing experience, women who had climbed in gyms, and frequent outdoor climbers all choosing their own level of challenge. .
Event Overview
We will spend the afternoon and evening on Friday (the 13th) getting to know one another, doing a climbing-related craft/workshop, and camping at a nearby campground. On Saturday morning, we will head out to Staunton State Park, just ten minutes from camp, and meet two women guides who will teach us all about outdoor sport rock climbing. Our climbing session will last approximately 6 hours, with ample opportunity to learn, ask questions, climb, belay, and connect with one another.
This retreat, while short, is meant to give you a quick weekend getaway-- right outside of Denver, connect with other women in your area, and learn how to feel more empowered in your body and this sport!
If you are a total beginner, that is A-Okay, and we will teach you all you need to know.
If you're a climbing pro, that's great and we would love to have you share your knowledge and experiences.
Guides
In addition to our certified climbing guides, this experience will be facilitated by Fran, founder of Empowered to Explore. Fran is a certified Women’s Guidance Facilitator, a Wilderness First Responder, and has been professionally facilitating outdoor learning experiences for 7 years. She brings an introspective element into exploring the outdoors which allows you to more deeply connect with yourself, your intuition, and your confidence through your adventures.
Logistics
All meals (Dinner on Friday, and Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday) are included in the price of registration, as is all the necessary climbing gear and payment for the guides and facilitators. If you need any camping gear, we have rental items available, just indicate your need for gear on your registration form.
